No matter when you plan to vacation, Florida is the place to be. There’s something fun going on in every season, and the weather is wonderful even in the dead of winter. If you’re planning a trip to St. Augustine, you’re probably curious about what to expect from the weather. Doing a bit of research will not only help you know what activities to look forward to, but it can also help you decide on what to pack!
Here’s a quick guide to the local weather depending on when you’re staying in one of our St. Augustine vacation rentals.
Spring
The weather in St. Augustine in the spring is always pleasant, but it can vary by month. In March, high temperatures stay around 70, but by the time May comes around, it’s more common to see the thermometer creep up toward 90. The mornings and evenings are a bit cooler, so you may want a light jacket.
The chances of rain in the spring are relatively slow, so you shouldn’t have to worry about your plans getting ruined by the weather. On any given day in the spring, there’s about a 20% chance of rain. Luckily, the showers here don’t last very long so you can explore some St. Augustine outdoor attractions.
Summer

When you visit St. Augustine in the summer, you can expect the hottest temperatures of the year. June, July, and August tend to see highs in the upper 80s or 90s and lows only in the 70s. It’s the perfect time to spend all day long in the ocean or the pool!
In addition to being the hottest season of the year, summer is also the wettest season here in St. Augustine. In June, there’s an average 40% chance of rain, but as the summer progresses, that chance goes up to 60%. Thankfully, rain usually comes as a quick afternoon shower that brings in cooler conditions for the evening.
Fall
St. Augustine tends to get less crowded in the fall, but the temperatures are still wonderful. September is still quite warm with an average high of around 85, but as October and November pass, high temperatures come down into the 70s.
Fall is also a relatively dry season, particularly as it gets closer to winter. September and October still see rain chances of around 50% on any given day, but in November, that rain chance drops down to around 20%.
Winter
Finally, if you book one of our St. Augustine rentals in the winter, you’ll experience cooler temperatures but can still get away with leaving the heavy coat at home. December, January, and February typically see high temperatures in the mid-60s or low 70s, while low temperatures can dip into the high 40s or 50s.
You won’t have to worry about snow down here in St. Augustine, and there’s a good chance you won’t have rain, either. On any given day, there’s only about a 20% chance of precipitation. Don’t worry about packing your umbrella!
